Match Rules for Shotgun Extravaganza

  1. This match is intended to test tactical shotgun skills.
  2. Both Manual and Semi-auto actions will be allowed, but scored separately.
    1. Men will use only 12-gauge shotgun with the same choke throughout the match.
    1. Ladies and first-time shooters will be allowed to use a 20-gauge shotgun with the same choke throughout the match.
  3. All shotguns used in competition will be serviceable and safe.
  4. No shotguns with detachable magazines allowed. Magazine tubes will not extend beyond the end of the barrel. Optical sights are allowed.
  5. Ammo will be slugs, no sabot slugs, and size Bird shot for one stage. Buck shot will be the same throughout the match, size 4 through 00.
  6. The standard paper, USPSA, target will be used and various steel targets.
  7. Paper targets will be scored according to type of target used and all steel targets must be knocked down except for Gongs. Penalties will be accessed accordingly.
  8. Any paper target hit that touches any part of a scoring ring will count for the higher value zone. Radial tears in the paper extending outside the actual bullet diameter do not count for the higher score.
  9. Knocking down a non-threat plate or hitting a non-threat target will result in penalties for the stage. Leaving a threat plate standing or not hitting a scoring area of a threat target will result in penalties being accessed. Any threat plates or targets that disappears during the course of fire will cause a competitor to be penalized.
  10. If the primary firearm becomes mechanically unsafe to operate a firearm similar to it may be used to complete the match. The competitor will be penalized for the stage which the firearm failed on.
  11. No speed loaders may be used in this competition. Ammo cannot be carried on the competitor’s arms, in hands, or mouth. Ammo will be carried in bandoleer, pocket, dump bags, or other approved manner, by Match Director. If the ammo is held in place by a shell holder e.g., bandoleer or sidesaddle, the device must retain the shell in a manner that requires the shell be pulled out of the holding device. Any device that allows the shell to be “popped out” with a spring are not allowed. Shotgun must be loaded with the butt between the arm pit and your belt.
  12. All questionable equipment must be approved by the Match Director before competition starts.
  13. In the interest of promoting a far competition; all stages will begin with four (4) rounds in the magazine tube and the bolt closed on an empty chamber. Shooters will not have any spare ammo in hand or mouth.
  14. Ready position will be specified at each stage.
  15. Weapons will be unloaded except when directed by match officials and will be transported at all times with the chamber clear and visible and barrel pointed up or down.
  16. DO NOT handle your firearm off the firing line, except at designated safe areas. Handling firearms in the parking lots is not allowed.
  17. Contestant’s DISQUALIFICATION for the following reasons:
    1. Pointing a firearm in an unsafe direction.
    1. Dropping a firearm during a stage of fire. IF YOU DROP A FIREARM, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO PICK IT UP. A safety officer will do it for you.
    1. Finger must be outside the trigger guard except when engaging targets.
    1. Any negligent discharge (this does not include overtime shots).
    1. Any shot into the ground or prop within six (6) feet of the firing line or any shot fired over the berm.
    1. Consumption of alcohol or drugs during or prior to, any stage of fire or before the conclusion of the match.
    1. Any violation of Rules 15 or 16.
    1. A contestant committing any unsafe act or omission, per the Match Director.
  18. The Safety Officer has final authority on disqualifications for safety violations committed on his stage.
  19. Protest must be filed with the Match Director within one (1) hour of the incident and the Match Director will make the final decision.
  20. In keeping with the sprite of the competition; failure to do right penalty will add 20 seconds to a competitor’s time for that stage.
  21. All competitor’s and their guests are expected to conduct themselves in a sportsmanlike manner. Unsportsmanlike conduct is grounds for the competitor being disqualified.
  22. Contestants, by means of entry into the match, accept and agree to abide by the terms of these rules and regulation, and agree that the Match Director’s decision is final in all matters.

Minimum of 25 Bird Shot.

Minimum of 21 Slugs

Minimum of 33 Buck shot.
